Why This Matters To Me

At the time of this writing, I am a mom to the most amazing toddler. But before I was a mom to a living child, I was (and still am) a bereaved mom to three angel babies.

Before I was a bereaved mom, I was a wife.

Before I was a wife, I was young, single, and loved to mingle (we’ll just leave this chapter at that 😉).

Before I was young, single, and loved to mingle, I was a first-generation college student at an Ivy League school.

Each of these stages was hard—difficult in different ways—but each one was that much more challenging because I am a woman.

By now, even if you haven’t seen the movie, you’ve probably at least seen or heard parts of the iconic quote from the Barbie Movie about being a woman:

It’s too hard! It’s too contradictory, and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out, in fact, that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault.

“Sing it, girl.” (<– That one’s a quote from Rent, IYKYK)

On top of all of that, women’s work is often undervalued and underpaid, regardless of whether they work inside or outside the home—for themselves or someone else.

So, whatever I can do to help women and non-binary individuals succeed in business, I am here for it because it’s hard out there for women and gender non-conforming people.

Why Marketing 

Marketing has a marketing problem. It used to be the thing that everyone wanted to do – writing cool commercials and coming up with catchy slogans.

Now it’s the thing no one wants to do and at the bottom of everyone’s to-do list.

I see many organizations struggle or fail to get enough business because they don’t know how to market themselves online. It all feels too complicated or too expensive.

So rather than dealing with all that overwhelm, many people just don’t do it. Or they half-ass it and wonder why they aren’t getting the results they want.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Before getting into marketing, I lived a lot of lives. I have an MBA focused on Communications and Operations. I’ve been a Buyer, a Recruiter, a Profit Improvement Analyst, a Business Systems Analyst, a Product Manager, a Program Manager, a Project Manager, and an Educator.

All these roles taught me how to distill information into bite-sized, actionable steps to get the job done. I think that’s what a lot of people need when it comes to online marketing.

You don’t need a complicated roadmap to get from points A to B — you’re a small business owner and you’re already busy spinning a million plates.

You need someone to show you the big picture, help you understand the terrain, show you how to get where you need to go and hold your hand if needed.

So that’s what I do.

I help small business owners learn how to show up online efficiently, effectively, and authentically.

I’ll be the first to tell you that marketing online isn’t easy. There are a lot of nuances to it, and it literally changes every day. (I see you, Algorithms!)

But I also think that’s what makes it fun (I know—total nerd, right?). Because the landscape is constantly shifting, there’s so much to learn and try. And all marketing is trial and error (and if anyone ever tells you differently, they are lying!).

So when you work with me, I am going to ask a lot of questions. (90s Hip Hop reference:Ask you what your interests are… who you be with…“)

I love a good spreadsheet (🙌 if you do, too!), so I am going to get all up in your web data (consensually, of course!) and see what’s going on with your current marketing efforts.

We’ll determine what makes sense for you to try based on your bandwidth and your goals. We’ll do some stuff. See what works. Do more of what works. Less of what doesn’t. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
